Lake Michigan Credit Union is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Mortgage department as a Mortgage Underwriting Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Our expanding Mortgage division is looking for an experienced Mortgage Underwriting Supervisor who can lead, plan, organize and direct the activities of the Mortgage Underwriting team. 

 

The ideal candidate will oversee the pipeline reports for flow of loans through the underwriting process to meet the credit union standards and turn times.  This will also include responsibility for the leadership, supervising and mentoring of the Underwriters and Senior Underwriting staff members to help maintain investment quality based on secondary market guidelines and/or credit union credit policy standards.  This position resolves and responds to QC Audits and Investor Repurchases, working closing with LMCU QC department to reduce deficiency ratings.  In addition, the candidate will assist the VP of Mortgage Operations in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that will ensure consistent compliance to lending guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive mortgage underwriting experience and working knowledge with all conventional, government (including DE and VA LAPP authority) and portfolio underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to problem solve alternative financing options.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to serve as a role model demonstrating the LMCU PRIDE culture in everyday interactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and make sound, informed, and objective decisions.
