Position Overview:

The IRA Special Accounts Representative is responsible for administering the IRA, HSA, Trust Accounts, Special Account programs, and deferred compensation programs in their entirety and assisting staff and members with their account questions. This position is also responsible for ensuring that Trust and Special Account programs are in compliance and education is administered and followed at the department level, branch level, and organizational level.


  • Responds to member and employee inquiries regarding LMCU tax deferred products, services, and processes.
  • Processes IRA, HSA and deferred compensation transactions including contributions, withdrawals, outgoing transfers/rollovers, errors corrections and death claims.
  • Assists with establishing new HSA employer groups.
  • Maintains employee intranet to ensure updated information is available and displayed. Works with necessary companies, legal and government departments as needed to ensure all areas of the products are made as necessary.
  • Administers, audits, and processes in their entirely Trust Accounts and other Special Account transactions, including posting incoming mail or email transactions, research, follow-up, error corrections, processing death settlements, compliance procedures, and maintaining record and retention according to established guidelines and policies, monitoring changes in legislation for Trust Accounts, and other Special Account programs.
  • Researches all disputed tax deferred transactions. Posting adjustments to member's accounts or explaining transaction postings. Preparing any adjusted tax form submissions, as needed.
  • Sends mandatory notices on tax deferred products and processes.
  • Assists in providing training for employees on tax deferred products and processes. Providing support and training material to present along with the Credit Union MSR training program.
  • Performs relating Accounting, clerical and member service functions.
  • Processes and tracks federal and state tax payments for the IRA and Deferred Compensation program.
  • Assists in the preparation and filing of the appropriate quarterly and annual tax returns for the IRA and Deferred Compensation program.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A high school degree or equivalent
  • Three to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
