The position will provide the opportunity to evaluate commercial activities using tools and software available only to the AML/BSA team. Analysis of account activities and research on industry expectations will provide the intern an opportunity to experience how data analysis can contribute to criminal justice. The individual is anticipated to have daily interaction with AML/BSA professionals who can bring insight into the larger world of money laundering and white collar crime. The position will provide the opportunity to turn knowledge obtained in the classroom into real-world exposure of background information needed to identify money laundering and address risks and regulatory requirements at financial institutions world-wide.
Lake Michigan Credit Union is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Compliance department as an AML/BSA Intern for the summer months (June 4, 2018 - August 17, 2018).
The intern will assist the VP of Compliance and the AML/BSA team in account analysis and assigning standardized industrial codes, which are vital in identifying high risk members and suspicious activities by members. The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Evaluate and analyze transaction activity in accounts of high risk businesses and individuals.
Categorize high risk businesses and individuals based on standardized industry codes.
Assist in execution of new process to obtain beneficial ownership information for existing members.
